Selection Process and Interview

In your application process you need to clearly demonstrate how you meet the entry requirements and core characteristics.

The BASCITT selection process is rigorous with an interview day hosted with one of our partnership schools designed to get the best match of applicant to the places available.

As well as having a panel interview, you will also be asked to:

  • Deliver a short presentation.
  • Be observed teaching a short lesson.
  • Complete a subject task.
  • Meet subject specific staff.
  • Complete compliancy audit.

If you are successful at interview you will be made a conditional offer.  The conditions will be specific to your experience and qualifications but will include providing proof that you have met the eligibility criteria for teacher training, a criminal record check (DBS), an occupational health assessment and two professional references.

If you accept the offer of a place, you will be required to attend a three day induction in July and August prior to starting the course in September.

Safeguarding

The Basingstoke Alliance SCITT together with Dove House School Academy (lead school) and its partnership schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all trainees and staff to share this commitment.  We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices also reflect this commitment and at least one member of the interview panel will be Safer Recruitment trained.  All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks that may also include an online search along with our relevant compliancy checks.
